Robert Yale Richardsonis an Iowa native and long-term Iowa City resident. In the early 1990’s he contributed a weekly editorial cartoon to the Iowa City Press Citizen under the pen name rytoonz. For many years he taught “Cartooning for Beginners,” a class for those 8 to 14 years old, taught through the Coralville Recreation Department. He worked as the lead graphic artist at Tidewater Direct in West Branch, Iowa for 35 years. Since his retirement he has been on the board of Arts Iowa City where he is their webmaster for their website. For many years he’s organized and facilitated the ArtiFactory’s life drawing sessions. Now his primary media is watercolor, although he has a growing interest in hot stamped foil.
