Connie Peterson
Connie Peterson has a BFA from the University of Northern Iowa with an emphasis in painting. She pursued a highly successful career as a graphic artist in Chicago before moving to Iowa City and working for the university, first as art director for University Relations and later in UIHC marketing. She retired in 2012 and since then has had more time to devote to her art. “After retirement,” she says, “art became my passion.”
In recent years, her work has been exhibited, among other places, in the University Hospitals and Clinics and the Senior Center. She just closed her show “Sky” at CSPS in Cedar Rapids. Although she’s worked in different styles and with various subjects, Connie’s current focus is on the Iowa countryside. In pastels and photography, Connie expresses her constant amazement at “the quiet beauty of the Iowa landscape…that can also be dramatic and powerful when heavy weather moves in….These landscapes expand the heart and senses with vast fertile agricultural spaces and those amazing skies.”
